Your kids deserve more than screen time.
They deserve laughter echoing from a swing set, backyard adventures that spark imagination, and the confidence that comes from climbing just a little higher each day.
At Bergfeld Recreation, we help families in St. Louis make those moments possible. If you’re searching for the best place to buy children’s outdoor play equipment in St. Louis, we’re here to guide you. For over 60 years, we’ve helped parents and grandparents create safe, joyful, and long-lasting play environments—right in their own backyards.
The Problem: Screens Are Winning. But They Don’t Have To.
It’s no secret: kids are spending more time indoors and less time being active. For many families, it’s tough to compete with tablets and video games. But here’s the truth—kids don’t want to sit inside. They just need better reasons to go outside.
That’s where high-quality outdoor play equipment comes in.
Parents want a place where their kids can swing, climb, and create—without worrying about safety or durability. But choosing the right setup? That’s where things can feel overwhelming. Wood vs. plastic. Two swings or three. What if you want to add more later?

These are great for growing families or frequent playdates. Want to add monkey bars, a climbing wall, or a slide? No problem. Our modular systems let you scale up as your family grows.
🔩 Swing Set Hardware
We carry all the bolts, brackets, chains, and hangers you need—designed for strength, stability, and long-term use. Best of all they are the safest on the market.
💪 Swing Bars & Add-Ons
Boost upper body strength and coordination with swing bars, trapeze bars, and climbing ladders. These are a big hit with kids who love a physical challenge.
Step 2: Understand Why Wooden Swing Sets Are Worth the Investment
Parents often ask: “Why wood over plastic or metal?” Here’s the breakdown:
✅ Durability:
Wooden playsets can last 10+ years with proper care.
✅ Stability:
Wooden sets offer better weight support and less wobble, especially on uneven ground.
✅ Aesthetics:
Let’s face it—wood just looks better in your backyard. It blends naturally with landscaping and ages gracefully.
✅ Customizable:
Want to start with three swings and add a fort later? Modular wooden sets make it easy to adapt over time.
We’ll help you choose a set that fits your yard, your family, and your budget—without cutting corners.
Step 3: Prioritize Safety
We know safety is your #1 concern—it’s ours too.
That’s why every swing set we install follows ASTM safety standards and includes:
-
Proper spacing between swings
-
Anchoring for stability
-
Smooth edges and non-toxic finishes
-
Impact-absorbing surfacing options (rubber mulch, wood chips, or turf)
We also walk you through everything you need to keep the set safe for years to come—including seasonal checkups and maintenance tips.
Step 4: Work with a Professional Installer
Yes, you could try to build it yourself. But if you’ve ever spent a weekend with a pile of bolts, an Allen wrench, and a crying toddler… you already know: it’s worth getting help.
With Bergfeld Recreation, you don’t lift a finger. Here’s how our installation process works:
